In this important sermon, Dr. Phil, uses the events at the Tower of Babel as an example of the power of unity using the text from Genesis 11:6:

The LORD said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.”

There is such great power in unity that the Lord said nothing will be impossible for those who unite! Wow!

Think about what could be accomplished to a united Church today!

Thought I would take off on this thought for just a moment…

If people unite without God’s purposes in mind, but rather with the goal of making a name for themselves, which was the case at the Tower of Babel, the results are often equally destructive to humanity. So, at this point in history God, in His great wisdom, brought disunity to humanity by confusing their languages.

Have there been times in Church history when the leaders in the Church were bent on making a name for themselves rather than lifting up the name of Jesus? Yes! As they say, power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely.

This power in unity, at the height of Christian power, was able to corrupt the hearts of the clergy to a point that was very destructive to humanity (e.g., the Spanish Inquisition, etc…). So God brought on a movement to help cleanse the Church for a period of time… that cleansing was called the Protestant Reformation.

Will there be a time when the Church will unite again? I believe through the prophetic unction I am receiving, that is the current move of God upon us now. Jesus prayed for it in John 17. He said when the Church was finally united and its members were witnessed loving one another, the world would finally believe He was sent from God to love them. Then they would know He was sent to point their way back into the arms of their Heavenly Father.

Humility is the key to the Church reaching true unity. Once the wounded heart of pride which leads to disunity is healed, Christians will finally be able to reach maturity, humility, and unity with one another and others. Once that happens, God’s Power will be released upon the earth in an unprecedented way.

Are the leaders in the Church humble enough to seek God’s heart for unity? As Dr. Phil states, we must seek God’s agenda, not our own. It is time for Zion to “arise and shine” for the Glory of the Lord has arisen upon Her (the Church). It is His Glory for us that will heal our wounded hearts of the pride that prevent us from uniting in power.

Dr. Phil, an anointed and humble servant of God, is a gifted speaker that is well worth listening to anytime you can. He and his wife, Sharlene, walk in a life of Christian victory, practicing in love what they preach. Dr. Phil is a bishop over many churches worldwide. He is also in leadership over my efforts as an author, teacher, singer, and speaker to share this prophetic call to unity and message to accelerate Christian transformation. I cannot go back to my hometown in Virginia without taking every opportunity I can to visit these loving ministers in their church with its rich atmosphere of worship and praise.
